A Minstrel’s Tale of the Body Thief
“Nothing’s
ever what it seems”
The Angel said to the King of Dreams
“You should never trust this man
It’s hard to fathom how you can!”
Oh please, my love” was the King’s
reply
“You act as if I’m going to die
How stupid do you think I am?
I think I’d know if it was a sham
It happened unexpectedly
The King is duped, the culprit free
A man separate from his body
The night was hell, the day a treat
With countless wonders there to greet
Yet through it all, the good and bad
Without his old life, the king was sad
Even then the king was perfect
But now he knew it wasn’t worth it
“I needed not this other me
The other fitted perfectly”
The king desperately looked for aid
From those who hid within night’s
shade
The Angel refused, his hope’s last ray
The stoic Mentor just turned away
Yet he was not without a plan
He sought help from another man
The Voice of Reason was his title
And he, being never idle
Decided on a plan of action
That met the Dream King’s satisfaction
And it was don the King was back
After an awesome team attack
The dream now gone, lessons remained
For the King, who, emotionally drained
Killed the culprit who again
Duped another, this time his friend
His body gone, the soul remaining
With years of youth quite worth the
gaining
The King brought him into his reign
For only the Voice could keep him sane
Full of hate, as they always are,
And finding it all rather bizarre
The Voice had left the King behind
For himself he had to find
The King, distraught, and in despair
Finding it all just not quite fair
Went back to his castle grand
So he could try to understand
When the Voice of Reason was back at
last
His friend had stopped by rather fast
To ask him to a festival
Where fun could then be had by all
The story don, my time is ended
I hope you feel it was well spended
On an epic king’s false trail
And the body thief, a minstrel’s tale!
